GoBe tracks absorbed, not eaten calories
GoBe detects calorie intake not at the moment of eating, but at the stage when nutrients are actually absorbed into the bloodstream. This can occur hours after a meal, depending on your metabolism, physical activity, and the composition of the food.
Energy from internal sources is also counted
During fasting or after intense workouts, your body uses internal energy reserves like glycogen, fat, and ketones. GoBe detects this release of energy and shows it as calorie intake, because it measures nutrient flow through interstitial fluid, not food itself.
Digestion may continue after a meal
Exercise can also accelerate digestion. Movements, especially those involving the abdominal muscles, can stimulate the gastrointestinal tract, causing delayed food residues to be absorbed — which GoBe may interpret as a new calorie intake.
Unified energy intake display
Currently, GoBe does not distinguish between energy coming from food or internal sources. It shows total absorbed calories to reflect your body’s actual energy input.
